An avid media consumer since birth, I easily read over 100 books each year as well as go to the movies nearly every weekend (and that's not even counting all the stuff I watch in the background while working, eating, cooking, et al). My creed for any story is simple: if it grips me, I don't care within what genre it resides. I will consume it.
I take pride and joy in my YouTube following -- making a point to respond to comments, even if it's just a simple "Thank you!" -- as well as as well as the positive response I have received from authors such as Francesca Lia Block for her "Love in the Time of Global Warming" series and Ryan Graudin for colouring in the cover page of my ARC of "The Walled City" -- note: her colouring definitely turned out better than my efforts -- and even Jay Kristoff for his co-written work "Illuminae". One of my most memorable encounters was from Jennifer Niven in response to a fanvideo I made for her recent YA release, "All The Bright Places", which is already set to become a feature film starring Elle Fanning! I've even participated in review tours, as I did for Ellen Allen's YA psychological thriller, "The Sham", via GoodReads. A favourite moment of mine, I must say, was when Jonathan Stroud liked a blog post I'd written in the form of a "thank you" for his bestselling "Bartimaeus" series.. My reviews are all cross-linked via GoodReads, Twitter, Wordpress, and Instagram. On the "professional readers" website, NetGalley, I maintain a review percentage over the desired 80%, and make a point of reading and reviewing every title for which I am approved; I also endeavour to get those reviews up before the novel's publication date.
